Reflections of Laugharne Castle, Carmarthenshire, Wales

Revisiting some of my earlier work – this a more line and wash style drawing of Laugharne Castle in southwest Wales.

Laugharne is about 15 miles southwest of the county town Carmarthen, on the estuary of the River Tâf.

Laugharne is perhaps best known for its castle and for its association with Dylan Thomas.

Dylan lived in several of Laugharne’s Houses over the years, eventually settling at the Boathouse on the banks of the estuary and writing in a converted garage – with magnificent views of the estuary and surrounding hills.

My view is from the salt marshes in front of the castle. Here tidal inlets offer shelter to a collection of small boats.
