I ventured into Oxford late on a Friday afternoon. This is something I don’t usually do as it can be a bit too busy for me. With the eateries packed and the pubs filling up, I tend to look for somewhere a bit quieter – like the Central Library. I got to do some sketching from one of the libraries big bay windows – a familiar subject that you might recognise from some of my previous posts …

Walking back through the town in the early evening the light was still good. So with things winding down I found a chair outside a quiet cafe and did some more sketching. This is in an area by Oxford’s outdoor market- Gloucester Green. The rounded building is a pub (The Red Lion) and behind that are the back of buildings behind the New Theatre.
Here is my view and my sketch in-situ.

… and here’s a scan of my finished drawing.

This is a view I’ve sketched before – here is my previous sketch with some watercolour added.
