Cornmarket Street – the Saxon Tower
This is a view of the Saxon tower and the half timbered buildings on the corner of Ship Street- next to the old city’s Northgate.

A Carfax Panorama
Carfax is an old crossroads at the centre of Oxford. Carfax Tower is the western tower of a church , now largely removed. The Swindlestock Tavern, on the corner of Carfax, was where the St. Scholistica Riots started in 1355 started, apparently in a fight over the quality of wine served there.
