In southern England the weather has been cold, grey and unexceptional for weeks now – and there has been hardly a glimmer of Sun. That means it is harder to go out and actually feel inspired enough to draw something. Hence no postings for a while. Yesterday I decided I’d dress for the weather, go out and actually do some drawing.
So with the temperature a few degrees above freezing and another solidly grey day I traveled into Oxford. I settled down to sketch a view of The High Street looking towards Carfax Tower – this at an old crossroads, commonly regarded as the centre of the city. With a few ” It’s chilly today” comments from passer-by’s, this was my view…

… and here is my sketch in situ.

Note the mitts.
Although perhaps not my most brilliant of sketches at least it is a start – and I think people were glad to see me sketching. Maybe someone out sketching is a sign of the start of Spring?
