Blewbury is one of a series of villages along the scarp of the South Oxfordshire Downs. it is about 10 – 15miles south of Oxford and a good spot for a drive out and some country sketching. So, on a lovely May day I got to sit for a while and do a few sketches.
Just off the main road is Great Tree cottage. Finding some shade, I set about sketching. Here is my view, my in-situ sketch and a later scanned version.

Moving down the lane I also tried a view of one of the village pubs (The Red Lion)…

With both of these drawings I tried to sketch fairly quickly – and they seemed to turn out ok. That’s good. With a variety of approaches to how to sketch, one that encourages you not to overthink is a plus. I should also add some paint to these at some point to find out if that works out as well.
