The Pret at Cornmarket in Oxford

Here is another of my watercolours ; The Pret at the Corner of Cornmarket and Ship Street.  Like a lot of old buildings , part of its charm is the way it is all slightly askew..

This is one of my views of this historic building in the heart of Oxford at 26 – 27 Cornmarket Street.

This building stands at the junction of Cornmarket and Ship Street, next to the Saxon Tower of St. Micheal’s at the North Gate. It is opposite another interesting building at 38 Cornmarket -this was formerly The Plough Inn, subsequently a Mens outfitters (Austin Reed) but has now been empty for a year or so. It still has the carved sign of a Ploughman in situ to give a hint at its former life.
