Passing through Marlborough the other weekend and stopping to take a stroll up and down the High Street on a very spring-like day.
Some more exploration around the church and beyond revealed a wealth of vernacular architecture and inspired this watercolour painting of ‘The Green’. With the church peeking through this row of houses, this is probably a view that has not changed much in over a century.
One of these houses (No.29) has a blue plaque which commemorates the novelist and laureate William Golding.
