Cheltenham is a Spa town with echoes of past architectural glories dating back to Regency times. Like a lot of more prosperous English towns, its main shopping areas have been extensively redeveloped to incorporate quite a few large and shiney new stores and arcades. Thankfully some of the past vernacular survives – and is hopefully protected to some extent by the march of consumerism.
Although this particular building might not hark back to the Regency it is nonetheless still a unique piece of the town’s partly forgotten past.
