Starting another new watercolour and intending to post this in three stages – the initial drawing, first washes and the finished painting.
This is a study of the church of the deserted village at Hampton Gay – which is a few miles north of Oxford.

One of the features of this church that I like is the old iron gates – one of these is currently being repaired and the other appears to the bottom left of my drawing. On the ground this leads out from the churchyard to what seems like a sunken walkway to the now abandoned village.
