During a flying visit to the village of Islip, near Oxford, I settled down to do a quick sketch of the church there. With squally showers blowing across the fields I produced the quick sketch below and later I took a bit more time to paint the relatively simple watercolour above.

One thing I did notice about this church was the twisted weather-vanes on the tower, something that I might return to , to do some more sketching, perhaps on a sunnier and less blustery day.
I also learned something new – that the much admired poet and writer Robert Graves also lived in the village at one time.
