Two different approaches to sketching the Randolph Hotel rooftops, Oxford

During a rainy day going around Oxford, I dropped in to the Ashmolean rooftop cafe – to have a cup of tea and take the opportunity to do some sketching. With the rain coming down outside, I did some more drawing to add to a previously started sketch, so at least I could do this in comfort.

Here is a view from the cafe looking out towards the rooftops of the Randolph Hotel - and below my sketch in progress.

Back at home, I did a little more work; scanning these two A3 sketches, pasting them together and then adding some more colour. Here is the result so far:

Later I thought I’d try another more linear approach – and here is the result from that. It is probably the simpler of the two drawings but both still need some work.
