Sketching in East Hagbourne

East Hagbourne in southern Oxfordshire is a good example of an unspoiled village, though its residents are possibly looking over their shoulders at the encroaching town sprawl of Didcot just to the north. The village has a decent pub, an old church, a tiny shop, two memorial crosses and a host of charming vernacular houses. It’s somewhere I’ve visited and drawn quite a few times. So on a warm summer’s Sunday lunchtime, I found some shade and decided to draw one of the houses at the far end of its Main Road: No.6.

Here is my view and sketch with an earth bank, a collection of signs and one of those memorial crosses – just out of the sketch.
