Sketching canal boats from Shipton bridge

After a day of rain it is good to get out and go for a cycle-ride. Not too far today and taking my sketchbook to take the opportunity to draw. Today stopping on the small canal bridge at the small village of Shipton on Cherwell to frame a view of the canal and narrow-boats near to the church. Above is a photo of my sketch and the view- the rain clearing and quite a few puddles around.

Here is the finished sketch -fairly simple for me and with quite a lot of empty space – but this may be the basis for a future watercolour?

Also – a snap of ducklings paddling about on the canal …
