Studies of The Swan And Castle, Oxford

Over the course of this past year I have been drawing a series of studies of the Wetherspoons Swan & Castle building in central Oxford – conditions allowing. These drawings date back to a previous post with my initial sketchbook drawing in August 2020 as ‘A rainy day in Oxford

Here is a view of my original sketchbook drawing in-situ, and a close-up of this original drawing.

Swan & Castle pt.1

As my drawings take quite a long time to do, for this project I’ve drawn a small series of line studies. This week I have had the opportunity to complete a couple more narrow ‘slithers’ of drawings and I’ve put them together in this drawing (below).

Here is my initial watercolour study with this drawing.

Swan & Castle colour study

This isn’t my finished watercolour – I think the colours may change a little, but hopefully I’ll be able to post a more finished version soon.

Here is a close up of some of the customers enjoying a pint or two.
