This is a view of Broad Street in Oxford with the sign for the Chequers Pub in the foreground.
The Chequers is actually down one of the narrow side alleys off the High Street, one of several old pubs in this part of town. The sign itself is quite qwerky, consisting of the chequred shield, a knight’s helmet and I believe there is a statue of a Bulldog in there somewhere too. The Clock is a nice touch but belongs to a nearby jewellery shop.
