A church porch at Aston Upthorpe, Southern Oxfordshire

Between them the adjoining villages of Aston Upthorpe and Aston Tirrod have three churches, all of which are quite distinct in character. This is a watercolour of the porch of All Saints Church, which is probably the oldest of the three.

A view of St. Mary’s Passage against the light

Experimenting a little with a simplified (for me) watercolour of this townscape. This walkway is known as St.Mary’s Passage, next to St. Mary’s Church, in central Oxford. For those in the know the walkway is famous as the inspiration for a scene in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
