St. Mary’s Skyline, Oxford

After a bit of a break I thought I’d return to some more local drawing and watercolour.

This is a view of part of the skyline of St. Mary’s Church in central Oxford. It is probably better known as the church facing the Radcliffe Camera on the southern side of the square.

The view from the church tower is one of the more well known views in Oxford, along with that from Carfax, though from memory the access to both of these is fairly cramped and a bit of a squeeze. Personally I prefer the view from the Saxon Tower at St. Michael’s on the Northgate – just slightly older and more atmospheric – and with the jumble of the old town around it!
