The Maggie G at Lower Fishguard Harbour

I’ve been continuing to do some watercolours in a line and wash style. This painting is from a recent summer holiday around the west coast of Wales. Its a study of the fishing boat Maggie G moored up in Lower Fishguard Harbour.

After a day driving up the coast from Porthgain (a previous post), we visited Strumble Head for that great view out along the Pembrokeshire coastline before dropping down to Lower Fishguard Harbour. We had hoped to make a visit to the Ship Inn – a real character pub tucked away on the narrow main road here, but it was only open in the evenings. Oh well, the harbour was looking good in the sunshine that day. After a scramble around the various boats it was time for a sandwich and cup of tea from the harbour cafe.

Below is a view of the harbour – with the cafe on the harbour wall behind.
