A view of the village of Wootton in Oxfordshire

Sunday afternoon was bright and sunny so after exploring the galleries in nearby Woodstock I decided to try a spot of sketching out at the nearby village of Wootton.

Finding a good view is usually the most difficult thing with this but I got lucky – with a view over the fields as the Sun was starting to go down.

My resulting initial sketch is below

And here is a photo of the sketch in situ, with those shadows starting to sketch out across the fields…

I made the mistake of painting this view on a heavy ‘Multimedia’ paper – didn’t expect it to cockle so badly. My apologies for the resulting ‘wavy’ paintwork. Here is a photo of the finished landscape.
