This last Saturday, after weeks of cloudy weather, the sun makes a brief appearance to the crowds of Christmas shoppers in Oxford. I’m thankful that I largely don’t have to be part of this melee and focused instead on the golden orange light reflecting off the Cotswold Limestone around the colleges.

One of my favourite Oxford views is the view down Ship Street towards Exeter College. It is one I’ve painted before – and also appears in another post. Here is the painting from that post – the trees in leaf and the light shows this is clearly from the summer.
