Blewbury is a village in southern Oxfordshire. It is about a mile or so north of the Ridgeway, has quite a few thatched cottages and has largely survived the ravages of development elsewhere. Away from the busy main road, you can walk around relatively quiet lanes and walkways, perhaps taking in the clear water streams or maybe even a Sunday afternoon tea at the local church?
Anyway, I’m glad it retains its character and for me it’s a good spot to do a bit of sketching.
Here are a few photos of some of its many older cottages.

On my latest trip I decided to try a study of ‘Dragonwyke’ cottage. Here’s my view.

Sketching here was awkward so I tried a series of smaller straight-on views pasted together. Here is the result together with a simple colour version of my sketch.

For comparison, here’s a earlier watercolour of another Blewbury building: Wayside Cottage.
